What is the point system?

It is our way of thanking you, and rewarding you, for sharing Berkeley-related content, photos, and videos. Ambassadors who earn 100 points or more will be entered into a drawing to win a prize that month. We have two contests each month. One for alumni and parents, the other for staff, faculty, and friends. (Staff working in the University Development and Alumni Relations' marketing and external relations department and the Cal Alumni Association's marketing and membership offices are not eligible to participate.) At the beginning of the month, the points on the Leaderboard are cleared and the game begins again!

Visit the Leaderboard (accessible through your navigation menu sidebar) on the website and in the mobile app to see point totals for all ambassadors. We reset the Leaderboard at the beginning of each month.

How do I earn points?

You can share content by visiting the website or by using the mobile app, clicking the “Share” button, and sharing the information on your social network. On the first day of each month, ambassadors will begin earning points and continuing to earn them until 4 p.m. (Pacific Time) on the last day of the month.

How many points do I earn?

• 20 points for registering for the platform
• 20 points for each share on your social networks
• 10 point for reactions (likes, comments, retweets)
• 10 points each time a person clicks through on a shared link
• 10 points for submitting a piece of content
• 20 points for getting that piece of content approved

What can I use the points for?

Each month, ambassadors who have earn 100 points or more are entered into a random drawing for a prize. The prizes vary from month-to-month, and include Cal gifts, access to insider events, and gift cards. We will clear the Leaderboard the first day of every month at midnight (Greenwich Mean Time), so new members will get their chance to earn points and win a prize.

Please note that some of the prizes can only be redeemed in Berkeley, California, and others can only be redeemed in the United States.

How do I know if I won a prize?

We’ll contact you with the good news! Winners will also be mentioned in a monthly email that we send out to ambassadors. If there is a tie, we’ll randomly select a winner.

Are there limits on how much content I can share a day? Or the number of points I can earn a day?

Can ambassadors win more than one prize?

No. We want to encourage all ambassadors to participate, so we are limiting ambassadors to winning one prize per calendar year.
